This is a record of our family's goal to visit each of the 37 branches of the Buffalo and Erie County Public Library System (B&ECPL) in one year. At each location we will get a log book signed and dated, take our photo and check out a book(s). Through this endeavor we hope to remind citizens of Erie County and beyond of the important uses of our public library system. Please comment on our adventures. Our quest began on the last day of school in 2010; June 25th. Here we go...

Library #14 Hamburg Branch
Wendnesday morning was our trip to the Erie County Fair, and the nearby Hamburg Library Branch. We drove through the nice neighborhoods on the tree lined streets past Union Pleasant Elementary School around the corner to the small, but busy village library. We liked the old signs in the lobby showing that this was an Andrew Carnegie library at one time. The staff was very friendly and helpful and we found a pile of books to read. Mom also found the first dvd of the Little House on the Prairie series she watched when she was little. At the fair we had fun seeing the animals, winning goldfish and stuffed animals and of course, eating! What a great day!

This is my hometown library! The old building that the sign in the lobby refers to was on Center Street around the corner from where I grew up. I was a frequent visitor! I loved the library so much I became a librarian. I am now at the Enoch Pratt Free Library in Baltimore, Maryland. I think it wonderful what you are doing as a family, visiting all the libraries! How appropriate that you combined your visit to the library with a visit to the Fair! I hope you have many more wonderful adventures on your journey!
